LAUNCH OF THE 2nd EDITION OF THE EUROPEAN PROTEIN CONNECT CHALLENGE,

A BOOSTER FOR THE MOST PROMISING START-UP IN ALTERNATIVE PROTEINS SECTOR

Protein Connect aims to speed up the development of innovative start-up in plant-based and alternative protein sector, in France and Europe, while facilitating start-up’s connection and new brand partnerships with the ecosystem, from farm to fork.

Speeding up the development of start-ups

Created in 2020 by Protéines France and its partners, Bioeconomy For Change, Agro Paris Tech, Le Village by CA Nord de France, BPI France, Terres Univia, Vitagora and Business France, and joined this year by the European Alliance for Plant-based Foods (EAPF), the Protein Connect challenge is open to start-up from all over the world. Applicants must have a new ingredient, product, technology or service in plant-based and alternative (algae, insects, microorganisms) proteins sector. This international program aims to connect start-up with industrial leaders’ of the alternative proteins field, to facilitate and boost their innovation and business to market.

The winners will benefit from personalised coaching to accelerate the development of their project by Protéines France members and its partners. One-year’s membership in Protéines France to get access to the association’s network, with its 39 members and about one hundred partners, covering the entire value chain.

To participate, start-up must be contributing at least one of the following objectives:

  • Initiate a transition to diversified protein seed cropping systems;
  • Consolidate the contribution of the plant-based and alternative protein sector to the Europe and France’s self-sufficiency for feed sector;
  • Contribute to diversify the market-based of food ingredients or products;
  • Development of sustainable processes and technologies for a better food world.

Encouraging the emergence of innovative projects

Encouraging the development of start-up likely to develop disruptive innovations is a major development focus for Protéines France. This is why we are pleased to launch the second edition of Protein Connect, which gives start-up that might not have the necessary network to get the opportunity to collaborate with established companies in the sector and allows them to integrate into the ecosystem,” says Christophe Rupp-Dahlem, Chairman of Protéines France.

 

Programme

  • 12 September - 18 November: submission of applications
  • 18 November - mid-December: 1st step of selection
  • Mid-December - mid-January: 2nd step of selection
  • Mid-January: pitch by the selected candidates and announcement of the winners

End of January: coaching begins
